We had a great time at Miami Art Week from November 29 to December 4! Here’s a recap of all the events we participated in while in the sunshine state.
The Gateway
Our signature Miami Art Week space offered five nights of programming including a space with rotating art, featuring our partners Pace Verso and Danvas. Friends, artists, and collectors stopped by to say “hi” and share their love of art, and their interest in supporting generative art. On the way out, visitors tried their luck for a sticker, Ledger wallet, or Squiggle DAO cap in our lil-squiggle-ified claw machine. All were welcome and we made many new friends!
Danvas hosted two panel discussions at our exhibition space. The first was a panel on generative art with Maya Man, Jeff Davis, and Sofia Garcia followed by a special hour of viewing for Tribute Labs. A second Danvas panel on “How Generative Art is Capturing our Imagination and Influencing the Future of Art” included panelists Jeanne Anderson, CEO of Danvas, along with Jeff Davis, Sofia Garcia, and Cameron Thompson.
Art Blocks × Pace Verso hosted a special evening of artists and art with a cocktail reception and rotating projects by Loie Hollowelll, John Gerrard, and Tara Donovan.
Squiggles Over NADA
Art Blocks, Squiggle DAO, New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA), along with Venus Over Manhattan teamed up for a dreamy cocktail hour on the lawn of NADA Miami. Squiggles were plotted while the sun set on a lovely garden party.
FEMGEN
FEMGEN was a one day pop-up event presented by VerticalCrypto Art, Right Click Save, and Art Blocks highlighting women artists among the community of generative artists and creative coders. The event included 6 hours of panels and conversations inside of an immersive gallery space in Wynwood. FEMGEN invited the public to learn and engage with the latest developments in generative art through discussions and visual experiences.
Art Blocks was an event sponsor and prominent participant. The day kicked off with a discussion on the state of generative art between Erick/Snowfro and Iskra Velitchkova. Later in the day, Sarah Rossien moderated a panel on the politics of generative art with Aleksandra Artamonovskaja, Sputniko!, Chanel Verdult, and Sarah Ridgley. The event was a real success, not only in terms of attendance and participation, but also in terms of the conversations and topics that were discussed during the day. Together, we celebrated the evolution of generative art this year with a focus on the wave of women artists leading the creator communities on both Ethereum and Tezos. We look forward to continuing FEMGEN as a concept and theme in 2023. Learn more about the exhibition here.
AB Happy Hour
Our community leaders, members, and our team had a small meetup at the Lost Boy bar to catch up on art, news, and enjoy the Art Blocks community spirit in Miami.
We would like to send out a big “thank you” to everyone who showed up to any (or all) of these events. We felt the love for our community just as strongly as that Miami heat.
