This is Not a Rock by Nicole Vella
Release date: September 27, 2023
This is Not a Rock continues Vella’s exploration into Quines (software which outputs its own source code). In the scenes generated by this output, a large rock hovers, apparently defying gravity. Behind the rock, a backdrop of the computer code generating the scene appears; combining the digital and the physical. This is Not a Rock acts as a gateway to introspection and encourages the viewer to question what they are looking at while thinking about the interplay between object, representation, and truth.
Nicole Vella is a computer artist and web developer residing in Toronto, Canada. She works with computers and code to create artworks and installations that invite interrogation into our relationships with technology and the world at large. Her works have been featured in public installations in Toronto, Canada and in galleries in New York, and has recently been included in exhibitions organized by Bright Moments and Feral File. Vella studied art at OCAD University where she was also a teaching and research assistant in the fields of Computer Programming and Wearable Technology.

Release date: October 11, 2023
Aaron Boyarsky (ixnayokay) is an artist and software engineer who enjoys creating math art exploring chaos and dynamic systems–with an eye toward engaging, often psychedelic visuals. Some of his favorite subjects are fractals, cellular automata, and modeling natural processes such as evolution, population dynamics, and growth. He also enjoys digital photography, with a focus on landscapes and capturing "found math" in the natural world.
About this project, the artist writes: “Our physical reality is inseparable from the flow of time; everything is changing, all the time. because unless until represents this concept in art, as a generative system of systems where each output changes over time. New days present new views of the algorithm, where a variety of mathematical shapes gradually and endlessly shift, demonstrating a more local and immediate form of change.”
Trichro-matic by MountVitruvius
Release date: November 8, 2023
Trichro-matic is a vessel for color to represent structure and depth. The algorithm achieves this through the juxtaposition, rhythmic repetition, and displacement of color as a guide for interpretation. Some pieces forgo expected visual structural cues, encouraging evaluation, while others explicitly represent them, shifting away from expectation, and dwelling in imperfection.
Anthony Hiley-Mann (MountVitruvius) is an artist based in London. He has a background in both computer science and graphic arts, with his work reflecting both of these disciplines. His focus is on digital aesthetics, resulting in surrealist representations of his algorithms that balance geometric precision and processes inspired by nature. His creative history spans a broad range of fields, from audio software to interactive installation. Creative code and generative artwork has been a foundational theme throughout his career, and is now his dedicated focus.
