We would like to start by thanking every one of our community members, Ledger, OpenSea, and the wonderful town and people of Marfa for the phenomenal success of our Open House Weekend. It wouldn’t have been the same without each and every one of you.
So here’s the recap of what went down in our small, wonderful, West Texan town:
Jamie xx and the Dancing Squiggle
This surprise was so challenging to keep under wraps—however, we managed to pull it off, and it was certainly worth it.
As the sun went down, Marfa Spirit Co. lit up to a spectrum of colors, and we all danced under a disco ball, to the sounds of The Range, Chloe Caillet and of course, Jamie xx.
A set of sound-responsive squiggles came to life during the mesmeric mixes of indie, RnB, and dance music by the talented British beatmaker and producer, Jamie xx. And when the squiggles started dancing to some garage, we saw everyone losing their minds in the best possible way.
perceive(): A Community Curated Exhibition
Our community-curated exhibition was a true delight. Upon entry, tours were led by Art Blocks team members from accounting to curation, and it was the starter for many exciting conversations on generative art. The presence of artists whose work was on display allowed for dynamic and meaningful dialogue around their work and artistic practice.
DCA’s project, Marfa Yucca was brought into the physical world through wallpaper and prints at the gallery, which gave our community members the chance to deeply immerse themselves into the artist’s concept and vision. Participants who visited the exhibition and signed up to mint Marfa Yucca will be able to do so for free, starting 22 November–01 December at 1pm CT. The guests were also delighted with the new installation of Tom Sachs’s Rockets.
ABSea Barbecue
Our backyard barbecue, hosted by Opensea, was a roaring success and an opportunity to enjoy some deliciously Texan sloppy Joes, with a side of great conversations and the great vibes.
Glitch
Our friends at Collab Currency unveiled their new gallery—Glitch, in the center of town. Glitch programmed up a storm with Computer Cowgirls' appearances, a panel with Tom Sachs × Mona, and several artists including Aaron Penne, Jen Stark, and Ayybee.

A special edition of ADM: Behind The Code was filmed at the Marfa Public Library on 10 November 2022. Art Blocks hosted Jos Vromans, creator of Attraction for a live code session which you can watch here.
Plottables
Plottables, an Art Blocks Engine partner hosted an event with artist Steve Pikelny and his project Instructions for Defacement. This event brought in quite the crowd, with people showcasing their outcomes with each other, and having some laughs whilst at it. This was a 48-hour open edition project, minting in person in Marfa, TX.
A Squiggly Birthday (cup)Cake
As if our hearts and bellies weren’t full enough, we got to hear Erick and Jeff’s grateful speeches, which were filled with Art Blocks history, and shoutouts to team and community members. When remarks concluded, Erick and Jeff made their way to the beautiful Squiggle birthday (cup)cakes, and blew out the candles, as a celebration of Art Blocks’s second anniversary. The desert freeze wasn’t enough to keep us away from the backyard that brought us all together. As they say, cold hands, warm hearts.
We are still riding the high that was getting to meet everyone in person, and sharing so many dreamy moments with a backdrop of the beautiful town of Marfa and the highest caliber of generative art. In the indelible words of Jamie xx, “Let’s do it again.”
